Spring Layers: Shirt Jac'in.

Yeah, it's been in the 80's the past few days, but it ain't summer yet. Enter the shirt jac, or over shirt, however you want to refer to it.
Below, a few of my go-to's.

1)Engineered Garments poplin BDU w/ Apolis Activism strip pocket tee
2)Apolis Activism chambray snap front shirt jac w/ levis bd
3)Folk cotton overshirt w/ J. Crew lightweight cotton bd & Hill-side selvedge covert twill tie
4)vintage USMC herringbone twill mechanics jacket w/ Engineered Garments open weave plaid workshirt

Arg, I looked everywhere for that green WA field jacket from Engineered Garments last year.

That Folk jacket is off the hook.

the folk jacket is indeed dope. Really liking Folk, especially their wovens and especially especially their outerwear. So dope.

the Levis wabash shirt is good. Their fits are a little off here and there, but overall, Carl Chiara's is steering it in a rad direction.

Mister Crew, the EG jacket is a total staple. (most EG is).

Folk jacket is great. Too bad no one sells the label in NYC. How does it fit? Great vintage find on that herringbone jacket btw.

Actually Odin carried a bit this past Fall and I believe will be again for Spring. And C'H'C'M' (www.chcmshop.com) has just started carrying them as well.

I picked up a herringbone USMC jacket like that a few years back at a thrift or surplus somewhere. You don't often see light jackets with that weave. So nice.

Where can I buy that Folk jacket? It looks amazing!

Is it still for sale in stores? I live in NYC.

jim,
Folk jacket is legit. Not sure what Odin oredered this season. You can get it online at Folk(http://www.folkclothing.com/outerwear/light-cotton-jacket-sand.html)
And Folk is "coming soon" to Context.
Let me do some checking and get back to you...

James,

I second the desire for the Engineered Garments Green Shirt jacket in NYC. Anonymous, I promise to not commute along your route or attend your local bars.

Best,

EHS

Eric/anon,
unfortunately, that EG jacket, I picked up last Spring at Odin on Lafayette. It'll be hard to track down now, but I wish you luck. (If either of you are a small, if I ever decide to pass it on, I'll keep you guys in mind...)

James,

I was seriously thinking this morning that something just slightly lighter than an m65 would be ideal. 38/40 in the jacket if you are feeling generous.

Looks like I'll have to look vintage. That will drive the wife nuts.

Best,

EHS

My favorite is the green khaki jacket- can never go wrong with it.

James,

Thanks for the link. The folk jacket looks a lot less yellow/british khaki in the online store than in your pictures. Which is a more accurate representation of the true color? I wish it was more yellow like your pictures.

Hey, don't know how easy they are to come by these days, but Mason's out of Italy makes killer Army Surplus style field jackets. I bought a ripstop one about 5 years ago and have been buying their updated versions ever since....
