Finishing Touch: Levis Workwear + Billy Reid.

A behind the scenes look at the creation of Billy Reid's workwear line with Levis. Billy and legend and good friend of Secret Forts, Carl Chiara, get their hands(gloved hands)dirty to get the finishes just right. Nice glimpse into the creative process and collaborative spirit of the project. Look forward to seeing the goods first hand. Due September 10th.(video via Cool Hunting)

  1. I love the Levis brand (a life-long fan) and the workshirt looks great. But there's only one true way to create a real "worked in" look. Take a brand new shirt and actually work in it. That's authentic.

  2. Heirloom? Maybe he meant to say "dipped in acid." These are simulacra of heirlooms, clearly. I'm with you, Bill.

  3. Bill & Scott:

Agreed, gentlemen. Having worked in the trades, nothing was more insulting and cringe-worthy than seeing well-pampered hipsters wearing perfectly pressed gear -- or worse, wearing gear that was obviously worked in by their grandfathers, fathers, or an acid bath. That's how it is these days: "that worked in look without the work." And so we fall...

  5. Ah, truly disappointed again. Not only are Levi's not made in the United States, but they continue like many down the road of making things look like something else or worse—someone else's. How about a pair of heavy denim in deep indigo that you buy and wear out? I know, too wild a concept. Well, here's to my old levi's.

  6. I am looking forward to these items. The website looks great, and I think the inspiration and concept behind the collection is fantastic. My only gripe is that I wish these were made in the USA of materials made in the US, instead of "Made in the USA of imported fabric". Regardless, I will be picking up some of these items. The workwear jacket with apron is pretty rad.
